Receive the Light of Christ

The purpose of the Church of the Holy Apostles is to glorify God through worship, discipleship, stewardship, fellowship, and love.

To be a disciple is to be a pupil. We are to be in the relationship of pupils under a master, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are also to be about making disciples.

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.” (Matthew 28:18b-20)

Discipleship describes the various ways in which we as a parish are learning the ways of the Lord. Christian education and spiritual formation are part of our discipleship. The outreach efforts of our parish also fall under the heading of discipleship. So also do all the various service opportunities within our common parish life. Jesus said to his disciples, “As you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me.” (Matt. 25:40)
