Dr. Zvony Nagy
Organist & Choirmaster
Dr. Zvony Nagy is a composer, performer, scholar, and educator. As a composer-performer, he specializes in contemporary music and improvisation, and he draws from experimental and historical improvisation practices. His compositions are informed by cognitive and computer sciences of music and explore the creative dialogue between composition and performance, cognition and perception, tradition and innovation. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe. He received the second prize in the César Franck/Olivier Messiaen International Organ Competition in Haarlem, the Netherlands. He recently recorded and released a debut album for Ravello Records featuring his compositions for organ.
Zvony is Organist and Choirmaster at Holy Apostles Church in Fort Worth and serves on the music faculty at Tarleton State University (Texas A&M University). Zvony resides in Granbury with his wife, Haley Nagy, and their sons Luka and Niko.
