Arts & Architecture
Mission and Goals of the Art and Architecture Commission

As the Church of the Holy Apostles grows and matures, opportunities for parishioners to make thanksgiving and memorial gifts to the parish continue to arise.  Often, these gifts are additions and appointments to the art and architecture of the church -- stained glass windows, statuary, furnishings, vestments, and other items that serve not only a practical function, but also reflect the ethos of the parish and serve as an aid to worship.

The Art and Architecture Commission exists to enhance worship by helping to ensure that the art and architecture of the church maintain a consistent aesthetic that honors and glorifies God. To that end, the Commission dedicates itself to the study of art and architecture (in particular to the styles after which Church of the Holy Apostles is designed), to helping parishioners become more knowledgeable about such and how it aids worship, and to serving as advisor to the Rector and Vestry regarding additions and appointments to the art and architecture of the church.

It is the intent of the Commission to provide helpful guidelines that will enable parishioners to make informed and appropriate choices that will enhance spiritual life and worship in the parish for years to come. All offerings of gifts and suggestions for additions or appointments to the art and architecture of the church will beconsidered pastorally and charitably by the Rector.
